WALAUPUN demam pesta bola sepak Piala Dunia bermula pada masa itu, namun pementasan teater Perkahwinan oleh Kelab Teater Rimba Artisukma Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) tetap mendapat sambutan hangat ketika dipentaskan di Graha Bhakti Budaya, Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), Jakarta, Indonesia pada 8 dan 9 Jun lalu. Walhal ketika Perkahwinan dipentaskan, penyair terkenal Indonesia WS Rendra juga sedang mendeklamasi puisi di pentas bersebelahan. Namun para peminat teater di Jakarta tidak berganjak dari tempat duduk Perkahwinan. Setelah tirai dilabuhkan penonton tidak keluar panggung, malah terus memberikan penghormatan kepada pelakon dan tenaga produksi yang menjayakan pementasan tersebut. Ini merupakan kali pertama Teater Rimba UKM melakar sejarah membuat persembahan di TIM, pusat kebudayaan dan kesenian yang popular di Jakarta itu. Malah sejak 1974, dikhabarkan tiada teater Malaysia mengadakan pementasan di pusat kebudayaan tersebut. Apa yang menarik ialah teater Perkahwinan ini menggunakan loghat-loghat daerah masyarakat di Malaysia dan Indonesia termasuk loghat Perak, Sarawak dan loghat Kuala Nerang, Kedah. Walaupun penonton tempatan mungkin sukar untuk memahami loghat yang dipertuturkan itu, tetapi mereka ternyata terhibur. Bekas Timbalan Naib Canselor UKM, Datuk Dr. Wan Hashim Wan Teh yang juga Ahli Parlimen Grik menyifatkan peluang yang diberikan oleh TIM untuk Teater Rimba mempersembahkan Perkahwinan mencerminkan bahawa teater dari Malaysia boleh mendapat tempat di …
